Jeb Bush said his mother, former First Lady Barbara Bush, has become his biggest supporter after her now-famous 2013 proclamation on TODAY that the country has “had enough Bushes.”

“I marked her down as neutral at that point,” Jeb Bush joked to NBC News' Kelly O'Donnell on Thursday. “Since that time she's been my biggest supporter.”

Barbara Bush will join her son at a town hall event in Derry, New Hampshire, Thursday evening. It’s the first time the two will appear together on the campaign trail.

“My mom's 90 years old, I'm not going to say, 'Can you go out five days, work 13 hours a day?' But she wanted to come. And I love her dearly and America loves her,” Jeb Bush said.
