Republicans could be somewhat disappointed by an Election Night on which they were holding serve in key races but weren't riding the big national wave some had predicted, according to NBC News political director and "Meet the Press" moderator Chuck Todd's analysis.
While "it's been a good Republican night," Todd said, Republican Scott Brown fell short of knocking off Democratic Sen. Jeanne Shaheen in New Hampshire, where he was seeking a return to the Senate after having served there from neighboring Massachusetts. And with Democrats feeling increasingly optimistic that Sen. Kay Hagan could hold on in North Carolina, control of the Senate could come down to Alaska, he concluded.
In that case, be prepared for a long wait. Alaska's polls don't even close until midnight ET, and it could take several days for all ballots to be counted.
