Just how badly is Kentucky Democrat Alison Lundergan Grimes worried about being associated with President Obama?
Badly enough that the Senate candidate won’t even answer whether or not she voted for Obama back in 2008.
“I was actually in ‘08 a delegate for Hillary Clinton, and I think Kentuckians know I am a Clinton Democrat through and through,” she said during an editorial board meeting with the Louisville Courier-Journal on Thursday.
Republican Sen. Mitch McConnell has focused most of his campaign on tying Grimes with the president, who is deeply unpopular in the Bluegrass State.
“I respect the sanctity of the ballot box, and I know the members of this editorial board do as well,” she said after being asked again.
An NBC News/Marist poll released last month showed McConnell with a comfortable lead, but recent polling has shown the race is tightening.
