Now THIS is a Packers-Cowboys rivalry that runs deep.

Wisconsin Republican Gov. Scott Walker, a Green Bay Packers backer and possible 2016 contender, made a not-so-subtle jab at Gov. Chris Christie Wednesday after the New Jersey leader’s friendship with Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones became fodder for political punchlines -- and headlines.

Christie, also a possible White House candidate, was photographed bear-hugging Jones in his luxury suite after the team’s win Sunday.

The New Jersey Republican was quick to hit back.

Christie, a longtime Cowboys fan, has dismissed ridicule of the buoyant embrace and boasted that he’s attended five games this season – all ending in wins for Dallas.

But Christie now faces additional scrutiny after it was reported that he attended the game on Jones’s dime – including a private jet ride – and that Jones has a business relationship with the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey.

Dallas plays Green Bay in the second round of the NFL playoffs on Sunday, January 11.
