The chairman of the Armed Services Committee is calling on Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel to testify about the transfer of Taliban detainees in exchange for the release of Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl.

"We are all relieved that Sergeant Bergdahl has come home to us safely," chairman Buck McKeon said in a statement. "However, we have a responsibility to both the American people and the troops still in harm's way in Afghanistan to get to the bottom of this deal with the Taliban."

The hearing is scheduled for Wednesday, June 11.

The swap has been criticized by members of Congress who say that the Obama administration violated the law by failing to inform Congress of the move in advance. Some lawmakers say the decision to transfer five detainees from Guantanamo Bay amounts to "negotiating with terrorists."
