President Barack Obama wagered a case of beer each on the women's and men's Olympic hockey games between the United States and Canada.

The White House made the bet public with a tweet:

And Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper confirmed the sudsy showdown:

Each country's women's team played each other on Thursday in the Olympic gold medal game. Canada's women's team previously bested the United States, 3-2, in a chippy preliminary round matchup.

The men's teams -- which each boast rosters full of NHL all-stars -- face each other at noon on Friday.

Obama and Harper met Wednesday during a summit of North American leaders in Mexico. There weren't any details about what beer Harper might give Obama should the United States win, though the White House has a particularly large stake on the bet: a case of rare White House home-brewed beer is on the line.
