Janet Jackson has an answer for fans wondering what has she done for them lately: She's coming out with new music.
The pop songstress surprised her followers on Saturday, her birthday, by announcing in a video that she will release new music and embark on a world tour later this year.
Around midnight Saturday, the 49-year-old singer made her revelation by tweeting a 50-second video, filmed in what looks like a recording studio.
"I promised you'd hear it from my lips and now you will,” Jackson says in the voiceover of the video. “This year: new music; new world tour; a new movement. I've been listening. Let's keep the conversation going."
Her tweet was accompanied by #ConversationInACafe, a hashtag used frequently by producer Jimmy Jam in the past week, according to Billboard.
If Jackson drops a new LP, this will be her first since “Discipline," released in 2008.
