Deaf NFL Star Derrick Coleman Tells His Story

A new advertisement from Duracell is getting a lot of buzz online and features Seattle Seahawks fullback Derrick Coleman, the first legally deaf offensive player ever to play in the NFL.

After not being drafted in 2012 following a storied college career at UCLA, Coleman made the Seahawks this season and has been a steady contributor. Narrating the ad himself, Coleman tells his story of being picked on as a kid, being told he could never make it and again being passed over by the NFL.

"They didn't call my name, told me it was over," he says. "But I've been deaf since I was 3, so I didn't listen."
