New Satellite Image Shows Vast Reach of Oso Mudslide

This close-up image taken by a DigitalGlobe satellite on Monday shows the extent of damage caused by the mudslide in Oso, Wash., which devastated the area on March 22.

The official death toll from the mudslide increased to 27 on Tuesday, with 22 people still missing, as Washington Gov. Jay Inslee requested help from the federal government for funeral expenses and housing.

Gov. Inslee said on Monday the estimated financial loss from the mudslide has reached $10 million.
