When The Weather Channel's Jim Cantore shows up in your neighborhood, it's a safe bet you just experienced a major meteorological event. That was the case for residents of Augusta, Georgia -- a city known for its lush greenery and rolling golf fairways -- when they woke up to the aftermath of a major ice storm Thursday morning. The state utilitiy is reporting as of midday Thursday about three-quarters of the power outages in Georgia are in Augusta.
The storm has moved north, up the eastern seaboard, where it is presently making a mess out of most of the heavily populated I-95 corridor.
Remember: Spring is only five weeks away. This guy can't wait.
