President Barack Obama said Friday the U.S. takes the Ebola outbreak in Africa seriously and is taking precautions for next week's U.S.-Africa summit in Washington. Administration officials said the leaders of Liberia and Sierra Leone, two of the three countries hardest hit by the outbreak, had canceled their trips to Washington for the gathering.

U.S. health officials have warned Americans not to travel to Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone, where the virus has killed more than 700 people this year. Obama said the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention was working with international health organizations to provide assistance to the affected countries.
