The Oscar Pistorius murder trial was halted briefly Tuesday after a South African TV channel showed an image of prosecution witness Michelle Burger.

Last week, a judge ruled that the testimony of Oscar Pistorius, defense witnesses or anyone else who objects to being on camera will not be broadcast.

Burger, who lives near the double amputee sprinter, is a lecturer at Pretoria University. She had requested that her face not be shown on TV. On Monday, Burger testified that she heard a "blood-curdling" scream on the night the Olympian gunned down his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp.

However, broadcaster eNCA said the image it televised was taken from a website and therefore it did not breach the judge's order.

Judge Thokozile Masipa described the incident as "disturbing" and ordered an investigation into what occurred. She also warned the media to "behave."

The trial later resumed.
