A picture of Oscar Pistorius' blood-stained prosthetic legs was shown during the South African athlete's murder trial Thursday.
The image was shown by defense lawyer Barry Roux in the court in Pretoria. Roux was questioning a police forensics expert, Police Col. Johannes Vermeulen, about the treatment of evidence at the scene.
The prosecution alleges that Pistorius murdered his girlfriend, Reeva Steenkamp, after an argument at his home on Feb. 14 last year. The defense says he shot her thinking she was an intruder.
Several images of the scene were shown in court, and as the files were clicked through on screen there was a brief glimpse of an image of Steenkamp's dead body, provoking gasps from her friends and family and prompting Pistorius to put his head in his hands.
