The man accused of murdering four children and their parents execution-style in Texas Wednesday has a history of allegedly terrorizing his own family, including one incident a week before the slaughter in which he was accused of choking his mother and threatening to kill her, according to court documents. Ron Lee Haskell, 33, is charged with capital murder in the deaths of four children, between the ages of 4 and 13, and their parents inside their Spring, Texas, home Wednesday. He also shot and wounded the couple’s 15-year-old daughter, authorities said.

But in restraining orders taken out by Haskell’s family members, he was accused a week before those murders of binding his mother with duct tape and choking her until she passed out in her California home — he was upset she had been talking to his ex-wife, according to court papers. Karla Jeanne Haskell told police her son “told me he was going to kill me, my family and any officer who stops him,” during the July 2 incident, according to a domestic violence protective order granted the next day. In November, Ron Lee Haskell was accused of grabbing his sister by the throat and throwing her to the ground during an argument.
