If you're looking for a cheap Windows notebook and want something with a little flair, Acer has you covered. One of the many, many things they announced Thursday was a new line of Aspire E-series laptops that hit all the basics for a reasonable price and come in a few very striking colors.
The E 14 and E 15 (referring to the screen sizes) aren't going to blow any minds — they're ordinary laptops with the usual options for processor, RAM, hard drive, and so on. We'd recommend upgrading to the 1080p display, which will be nice and sharp at either size. Don't bother with the touch-sensitive one — you'll just make your screen dirty. Besides, Windows 10, which is likely coming out in a few months, is tossing a lot of the touch-based interactions of Windows 8.1.
We like the bee-like yellow version, but deep red, pink and other colors will also be available when the laptops hit in July. They'll cost $379 to start, but will probably be a bit more after you've spruced them up with extra RAM and the like.
