Spotify partners up with Coca-Cola, still doesn't release iPad app

Executives from Coca-Cola and Spotify shared a stage on Wednesday to announce their new partnership.

On Wednesday, executives from Spotify — which some of you may recall happens to be this writer's favorite music service— and Coca-Cola got together in New York City to announce their new partnership. Sadly this event did not mark the arrival of a Spotify iPad app.

Translated from corporate speak, the partnership announcement basically boils down to a deal under which Coca-Cola will integrate Spotify technology in its online marketing materials, create joint campaigns with the music service, and sponsor events for developers who use the Spotify API.

So it's all good news — in theory, anyway —unless you listened to rumors and got your hopes up with the idea that a Spotify iPad app would be announced today. (Spotify founder and CEO Daniel Ek says that's "in the works," for whatever that's worth.)
