Uber is moving beyond on-demand rides and getting into the on-demand delivery business. The company launched an on-demand product delivery service dubbed the "Corner Store" in Washington, D.C., on Tuesday. The new service enables users in the area to have convenience store products delivered to their doorstep. Uber said the new service is an experiment meant to last only a few weeks. But in a blog post, it added: "The more you love it, the more likely it will last." There's no shortage of companies entering the on-demand delivery space, including WunWun, Postmates and eBay Now. Amazon and Google are also competing in the same-day delivery service. Uber has rolled out many promotional on-demand product services in different regions during the last year. In December, the company offered a Christmas tree delivery service in specific markets. Earlier this summer, it began an on-demand delivery and installation service for air conditioners in New York City. A list of all the items Uber's Corner Store will deliver can be found here.
