Serial’ and Pandora Are Teaming Up on Much-Hyped Season Two

Convicted murderer who gained fame in ‘Serial’ podcast wins right to appeal case 2:32

The second season of the wildly popular "Serial" podcast is coming to Pandora.

After the first season, which delved into the conviction of Adnan Syed for the murder of Hae Min Lee, became a huge hit last year, Pandora grabbed the exclusive streaming rights from iTunes.

People will still be able to download shows from the "Serial" website. Last year, more than 8 million people downloaded each episode. "Serial" creators hope that Pandora's 78 million monthly users can boost the show's audience.

"'Serial' is the biggest podcast in the world, but only 17 percent of Americans listen to podcasts at all," Ira Glass, host of "This American Life" and editorial adviser to "Serial," said in a statement.

"That’s why it’s so exciting for us to work with Pandora," he said. "Pandora reaches millions of people who never listen to public radio or download podcasts. This’ll get our shows to them."

While the launch date for season two hasn't been divulged, season one of "Serial" will be made available on Pandora starting on November 24. When season two does arrive, episodes will air every Thursday at 6 a.m. ET.

"This American Life," which averages around 2.2 million downloads per episode, will also appear on Pandora in early 2016.
