Emoji specialists from Apple and Google just submitted a new proposal to Unicode – essentially the governing body for emojis – recommending that emojis should be editable.
The Independent reports that the proposed changes would allow users to, for example, customize “face” emojis to reflect their own appearance – changing the hair color, gender, and other features.
For those people who are particular about the angle of their pizza slice or the direction of their galloping horse, the new code would also enable users to rotate emojis.
Last year, Unicode introduced a variety of skin colors for many of its emojis; and Bitstrips launched the Bitmoji app, which enables users to completely customize their avatar, from cheekbones to face shape and hair style.
Of course, it’s still up to Apple and Google to agree to implement the proposed emoji changes.
