Forget delivery. Drones may soon have a bigger role in social media.
Twitter was granted a patent last week for an unmanned aerial vehicle, or UAV, that takes photos and videos that can be shared on user accounts. Twitter users could control the drone's movement and stream what it captures.

The company declined to comment on possible production or rollout plans for the device. A spokesman would only say, "Two words: Drone selfies."
The patent comes after Twitter earlier this year unveiled Periscope, which allows users to stream live video from their accounts.
Several other notable technology and media companies have looked to implement drones into their businesses. Amazon and Google have pushed for drone delivery, while journalism and photography groups have lobbied Congress on drone policy.
Twitter shares have fallen 38 percent this year amid concerns about user growth and monetization.
