Australia’s koala population has declined by 30 percent in three years, foundation says


Australia has lost around 30 percent of its koalas over the past three years due to drought, bushfires and developers cutting down trees, according to the Australian Koala Foundation. The independent non-profit group is calling on the Australian government to do more to preserve the koala’s habitat, saying the species is an Australian icon.
