Obama: Sentencing Reform Should Begin With Non-Violent Drug Offenses
The president believes the public will support reduced sentences for non-violent drug offfenders provided that there is increased investment in drug treatment programs and that government be able to show that those reduced sentences also lowers the prison population and the overall crime rate.
