Flags placed at Arlington Cemetery

Soldiers placed nearly a quarter-million U.S. flags at every headstone in Arlington National Cemetery for Memorial Day weekend. The tradition called "Flags In" began in 1948 carried out by the 3rd U.S. Infantry Regiment “The Old Guard.” Each year more than 135,000 people visit the cemetery to honor veterans on Memorial Day weekend.
