Thousands of Indians packed onto buses and trucks leaving the cities as a 21-day lockdown was imposed to slow the spread of coronavirus. The lockdown has left many people jobless, some said they’d been evicted by landlords who feared they wouldn’t be able to pay rent. With vehicles swarmed, others resorted to walking hundreds of kilometres in order to get back to their home villages.March 29, 2020
