Stifling heat blanketed half of the lower 48 states on Tuesday, especially in the central and southern Plains: Oklahoma City is now in its 13th day of 100+ degree temperatures. The heat is cited as the cause in at least four deaths. Mara Schiavocampo reports from Saint Louis.
