Violent protests continue against Ecuadoran government

Protesters have continued to clash with the police in Ecuador’s capital, building barricades to protect themselves from volleys of tear gas. There was a brief respite from the violence this week after Ecuador’s President asked for dialogue with the protesters, who are against new austerity measures. But that was shattered on Friday, with clashes continuing into the weekend.
