July 9, 1994: Kim Il Sung, who led North Korea for 46 years, died. He ruled with autocratic power and was officially referred to as the “Great Leader.” His son, Kim Jong Il inherited the leadership of North Korea. NBC’s Brian Williams and Andrea Mitchell report.
