When it comes to diapers, Millie Moon is a popular choice. The line, which first launched at Target and has since expanded to other retailers, markets itself as a “luxury diaper” made with premium materials and designed to be super soft. But if you use Millie Moon diapers on your baby, you’ll want to pay attention: Consumer Reports has called for Millie Moon to recall its diapers, citing the growing number and severity of incidents reported to the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC). These incidents involve skin irritation and reactions. NBC Selected has not independently verified these incidents. Consumer Reports is advising parents and caregivers to stop using them while the cause of the infant skin reactions is investigated. Read on to learn more about what this news really means — including what parents are reporting, what the company says, and what to do if your baby has been wearing them.
Are Millie Moon diapers being recalled?
First, Millie Moon diapers have not been recalled. While Consumer Reports has called for a recall, neither the company nor the CPSC has announced one.
So, what is going on? More than 600 incidents involving Millie Moon diapers have been submitted to the CPSC this year, according to Consumer Reports’ review of the agency’s public database, SaferProducts.gov. A CPSC spokesperson told them the agency is aware of the many reports and complaints about the product, though it cannot comment on any active or potential investigations.
What are parents reporting?
Parents have described redness, swelling, blisters, peeling, bleeding and other painful infant skin reactions, some of which required medical care. Consumer Reports says that numerous reports describe medical treatment, including at least three emergency room visits. In one case reported by Fox59 in Indianapolis, a 2-year-old needed skin grafts for injuries his parents say came from a Millie Moon potty training diaper.
A common thread in many complaints: many parents said their babies had used the brand before without an issue but developed reactions after opening a new package. Millie Moon told Consumer Reports that the only recent change, which rolled out in February 2026, is that the printed design on the outer layer now extends farther up the diaper.
Diaper rash is common and can have many causes, so these reports don’t prove the diapers caused every reaction, but the number of similar reports is a safety signal worth paying attention to.
What is Millie Moon saying?
In a statement released on Instagram, Millie Moon says it reviews complaints individually and has not found evidence that its diapers caused the reported reactions. The company says it has not changed the diapers’ materials, suppliers or construction. They also say they commissioned an independent U.S. lab to test the diapers before and after the visual design change. The company says its overall complaint rate is below 0.1% of diapers sold. I also reached out to Millie Moon for a comment and will update this report once they respond.
What should you do if you use Millie Moon diapers?
If you do use Millie Moon diapers, consider taking these steps:
- Stop using the diapers if your baby reacts. If you notice a skin reaction, stop using the product and contact your pediatrician.
- Document the reaction. Take photos of any rash or skin irritation and note the date you opened the package.
- Hold on to the packaging. Keep the diapers and packaging, especially any lot or batch numbers. If there is a recall down the line, this will help you identify if you have impacted diapers.
- Report it. If your child is experiencing a reaction, contact Millie Moon at hello@mymilliemoon.com and file a formal complaint with the CPSC at SaferProducts.gov.
