Campbell Soup Company said Thursday it was voluntarily recalling 355,000 cans of SpaghettiOs after pieces of red plastic were found "in a small number of cans" in the U.S.

The plastic, which peeled off of the cans' lining, posed a "potential choking hazard," the company said, adding that the "issue was identified after the company received consumer complaints."

The affected cans were 14.2 ounces, the company said, and contained a date — February 22, 2017 — stamped on the base.
