The self-proclaimed "Queen of Bounce" is coming to New York! Rapper Big Freedia will headline July's Red Bull Sound Select New York concert, which will be held on July 19 at Brooklyn venue Baby's All Right.
The New Orleans artist is known for being a pioneer of "bounce music," a type of hip-hop that originated in the Big Easy.
"I’m always honored to work with Red Bull Sound Select, and my show with Cakes Da Killa is no different! We are coming’ to slay Brooklyn, so get ready!" Big Freedia told NBC OUT.
According to its official website, Red Bull Sound Select is "an artist development program that delivers the best in new music" by working with "tastemakers who curate artists from their local scenes." In New York, the chosen curator is Afropunk.
Cakes Da Killa, who will be performing alongside Big Freedia, helped curate the July 19 event.
"I selected the lineup of the show based on how parties used to be formatted in my childhood. Typically, events were broken up into blocks that covered various genres of music to make sure everyone had a good time," he explained.
On choosing Big Freedia as the event's headliner, Cakes Da Kill told NBC OUT: "Big Freedia is someone I have done multiple shows with and never fails to bring that authentic bounce flavor."
DJ and producer LSDXOXO, Byrell the Great and Qween Beat Records founder DJ MikeQ will also be in attendance to keep fans on their feet at Baby's All Right.
