Republican presidential hopeful Fred Thompson has brought in more than 11 and a-half million dollars over four months.

The numbers are the first to be reported since he formally entered the race last month.

Two Republicans familiar with the fundraising by the actor and former senator say the amount includes more than three million dollars raised in June, before the third-quarter fundraising period began.

The two Republicans also say checks are still being counted from more than 70,000 contributors.

Since formally entering the race during the first week of September, Thompson has raised roughly $200,000 a day.
