Housed in a 1920s edifice, this landmark hotel sits a stone’s throw from the lakefront, along the Magnificent Mile. Despite the recent multimillion facelift, vintage charm still abounds here. Fodor’s writes, “Rose moiré wallpaper lines the hallways, and exuberant floral bedspreads combine with gold- and cream-striped pillows for a rich, colorful decor.” Regular nightly rates run north of $300 but you can get away with a steal if you book through Orbitz. Rooms sell from $99/night!
Stay central at Affinia Chicago for $108 a night
This 29-story property is just minutes from the Magnificent Mile. Gayot.com writes, “Formerly all suites, the hotel now offers a combination of executive rooms, suites and a 29th floor penthouse with amazing views and private use of the rooftop swimming pool. One of the most unique features is the canopy beds with pillowtop mattresses, which grace each accommodation. Décor is tasteful and residential in style ...” Rack rates run upward of $350 but you can now stay here for just $108.
Cheap sojourn at Inn of Chicago for $89 a night
At this excellently located hotel, rooms come with cherry-wood furniture and skyline vistas. The high-rise features two restaurants, a bar, and an open-air rooftop terrace, with a fitness center. But the location is what makes this a favorite midrange overnight. It’s located half-a-block from the Magnificent Mile and two blocks from Rush Street restaurants and nightlife. Combine all of the above with the low rate we found on Expedia — just $89/night — and you’ll be booking your Chicago sojourn in no time!
