The deal
Looking for a holiday somewhere in Europe? If so, we suggest you bypass Western Europe for a little East. We found three fantastic specials for discounted tours to the cities of Eastern Europe. All come with airfare, hotels and breakfast, and include two spring flings — a Prague holiday for $859 and a Budapest vacation for $1,029; and an escorted summer tour to several cities of Eastern and Central Europe for just $2,999.

Prague holiday from $859
Virgin Vacations offers an outstanding Prague deal for spring departures. You can experience the “golden city” of Eastern Europe, a UNESCO-protected cultural and heritage sight, from only $859! This low price gets you roundtrip airfare from New York; six-night lodging at a midrange property near the city center; and continental breakfast daily. This price is valid for travel between March 26 and April 10. For nicer weather, depart a little later; prices go up to a still very reasonable $949.

Budapest vacation for $1,029
For a getaway to the Hungarian capital of Budapest, described by Frommer’s as “a remarkable and wholly unpretentious place”, we recommend a weeklong package by Virgin Vacations. Priced from just $1,029, it is good for departures from New York through April 24. This special features accommodation at a three-star property for six nights and continental breakfast daily. Trips between April 25 and May 15 cost just a little extra — $1,159. Later departures go up in cost to a pricey $1,609.

Eastern Europe tour for $2,999
To see several cities of Eastern and Central Europe in one fell swoop, we recommend the 12-night escorted tour by Virgin Vacations. Priced at $2,999 for summer departures (between July 11 and September 5), this trip features a variety of inclusions. Those are: flight from New York to Vienna and back from Prague; airport transfers; lodging for the length of stay; eighteen meals; and a selection of tours and excursions. En route, you’ll visit the following cities: Vienna, Budapest, Krakow, Warsaw, Berlin and Prague.

The dollars
The rates above are listed per person, based on double occupancy. We’ve checked the cost of airfare to the above destinations during the spring–summer season and calculated that it can run as high as the quoted package prices, with hotels and breakfast included! So in light of the inclusions they cover, all three deals above save you a serious chunk of change.

The catch
Pints of beer not included.
