A New York City woman pretended to be a hospital administrator, called an emergency room and tried to get hospital staff to take the baby of her husband's mistress off life support, prosecutors said Thursday.

Kisha Jones, who was originally charged last year in a plot to kill the baby, has pleaded not guilty to attempted murder, attempted abortion and other charges in a new indictment.

Defense attorney Barry Turner said Thursday that his client denies any wrongdoing.

"They're basically charging attempted murder by a phone call," Turner said. "There was never any chance that baby could be harmed that way."

In December, Brooklyn prosecutors alleged that Jones ordered a drug that could cause an abortion, then tricked the girlfriend into picking it up and taking it with a phone call pretending to be someone from her obstetrician's office. The baby was born two months early, but survived.

Jones then tried again, according to prosecutors. They say that, posing as the baby's mother, she sent a man to the hospital with two bottles of tainted liquid, saying it was breast milk, and instructed nurses to feed it to the baby. Hospital staff grew suspicious and called police.

The previous allegations were not included in the new indictment, but prosecutors said they remain under investigation.

Authorities said Thursday that the baby is healthy.
