Informatica Marketplace Becomes Trusted Site to Buy, Sell and Collaborate for Data Integration Community

Informatica Announces 2010 Marketplace Contest Winner and Launches Informatica Communities for Customer Connections

WASHINGTON, Nov. 2, 2010 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- INFORMATICA WORLD 2010 -- Informatica Corporation (Nasdaq:INFA), the world's number one independent provider of data integration software, today announced growing momentum for the Informatica Marketplace - an online community that connects vendors, partners and individual developers to enable them to share data integration solutions within an open and comprehensive ecosystem of more than 120,000 active users.

Open for business in June, the Marketplace already contains over 129 Informatica and third-party "Blocks", assets that offer solutions in eight technology categories: Enterprise Data Integration, Data Quality, B2B Data Exchange, Application Information Lifecycle Management, Complex Event Processing, Cloud Data Integration, Ultra Messaging and Master Data Management.

The overall Marketplace contest winner, Analytix Data Services, is a strategic data integration software and services company specializing in data warehousing and business intelligence solutions. Their winning entry, the Analytix Mapping Manager, is the integration industry's first enterprise solution to the "pre-ETL" source to target mapping problem. The solution, a web-based solution that enables business and data analysts to quickly consolidate and profile system metadata into a metadata and data mapping database repository, then leverage the metadata to dynamically build and version data mappings through the lifecycle which become clean, approved requirement inputs to Extract, Transform and Load (ETL) developers. The solution complements Informatica PowerCenter, enhancing manageability and automation and further improving data quality standards to make the entire data mapping process faster, more manageable and collaborative.

"We are honored to have won the Informatica Marketplace competition," said Linh Vu, CEO, Analytix Data Services. "In addition to the grand-prize perks-which include, among other things, the ability to showcase our solution on the main stage of the premier data integration event, Informatica World - offering our solution on the Marketplace site has provided us with many opportunities, including: generating new qualified leads, growing our customer base both domestically and internationally and ultimately helping to increase our revenue stream. In fact, as a result of having our Block on the Informatica Marketplace, we've already signed resellers in five different countries and have a number of new customers abroad as well. We are now in the process of starting a dedicated presence in Brazil to cover the Latin American market that has been growing by leaps and bounds. This has been a wonderful experience for us."

The Informatica Marketplace has a number of existing and new partners, including companies such as: Appfluent, Binary Bolt, Cisco Tidal, Fyghtsoft, Interface Development, Kapow Tech, Star Analytics, StrikeIron and TCS. From July to August 2010 alone, the Informatica Marketplace experienced a 237 percent increase in downloads. The Marketplace also saw a total of 532 downloads in the quarter.

"The early success and momentum of the Informatica Marketplace has confirmed the need for an open ecosystem for data integration professionals to meet and share ideas," said Tony Young, chief information officer, Informatica, "With the number and quality of innovative Blocks already on the Marketplace in only a few months - we are well on our way, however our ultimate goal is to provide a trusted place that allows Informatica customers to lower their cost of deployment and speed time-to-market. By leveraging the knowledge of the data integration community and by using pre-built components they avoid the need to manually code solutions. We will continue to innovate and introduce new features and we very much look forward to the continued success of the Marketplace."

Communities

Informatica is also announcing the rebranding and consolidation of the Informatica Communities, a comprehensive online destination for Informatica users to connect, collaborate, discuss and share ideas.

Informatica Communities provides single-login access to the complete range of Informatica user-oriented online sub-communities and enables users to interact easily and extensively based on role or product interest. Utilizing the state-of-the-art Jive community platform, Informatica Communities will serve as the platform for all new Informatica online communities going forward.

"We see social communication and collaboration as one of the top ten technology trends for 2011," said Bhavish Sood, principal research analyst, Gartner, Inc. "Crowdsourcing, which falls within this trend, can be a great product whitespace that allows organizations to capture ideas outside of the company and offers them the ability to dramatically increase the available human resources to apply to a task or challenge. Well-designed crowdsourcing efforts will attract interest and bring creativity to a task."

Informatica Communities is open to all customers, prospects, partners and market influencers. A user is able to enroll in any number of sub-communities and access them all with a single login. Currently they comprise the following Informatica sub-communities:

  • Product Communities – Individual product-based communities where users can discuss Informatica products, view product content, and share product tips and tricks.
  • Developer Community – A resource for all Informatica developers with access to all the tools they need including sample code and Informatica SDKs.
  • Architect Community – The first open and free community focusing on the value of data integration and data services in agile architectures including SOA.
  • User Group Community – A place to connect with Informatica Users worldwide, participate in User Group programs and find information on where to connect with local User Group members.
  • The Marketplace – The go-to destination for users to buy and sell proven data integration, data quality and data management solutions.
