ELK GROVE VILLAGE, Ill., Feb. 1, 2011 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Lime Energy (Nasdaq:LIME) announced today that it has partnered with the District of Columbia Department of Real Estate Services (DRES) to conduct energy audits in support of the District's energy efficiency program for 9 million square feet covering 128 buildings. This ARRA funded program includes schools, libraries, and other municipal facilities located throughout the DC area that range in size from 4,500 to 617,000 square feet.

Lime Energy will employ local DC staff and Certified Business Enterprises including small firms and disadvantaged business enterprises to conduct these energy audits. The results of these audits will be used to inform the District's future investments and energy reduction strategies in support of the District's goals to reduce energy consumption and carbon footprint while maintaining building occupant comfort and upgrading its facilities. Because of its scale and unique approach, the Department Of Energy will be closely monitoring the progress of this project.

This project allows Lime Energy to continue its support of municipal energy efficiency program development and implementation nationwide. "We applaud the District of Columbia's decision to utilize the ARRA funds for this important planning effort, which will reap benefits for the District for years to come," stated Adam Procell, President of Energy Consulting and Technical Services at Lime Energy. "The leadership shown by DRES should be an example for other local government entities that are looking to accomplish efficiency and sustainability goals through the use of these federal stimulus funds."
