CAMARILLO, Calif. and SUNNYVALE, Calif., Feb. 24, 2011 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Power-One, Inc. (Nasdaq:PWER), a leading provider of renewable energy and energy-efficient power conversion and power management solutions, and Maxim Integrated Products (Nasdaq:MXIM), announced today that they entered into a non-exclusive, worldwide, Field of Use agreement for Digital Power Technology (DPT) patents from Power-One.

Digital power management provides the end-users with increased control, efficiency and performance, enabling OEM products and data centers to run more efficiently. DPT dynamically reacts to the power needs of the system, reducing the number of analog board-mounted components, thereby creating a smaller footprint. Digital power provides access to critical system information including current and voltage, enabling the system to monitor the power consumption at the highest possible resolution.

"Power-One is pleased to license its digital power management technology to Maxim, a market leader in the power-management IC industry, for incorporation into its products," said Steve Hogge, President of Power Solutions at Power-One. "With the expanding number of leading power companies partnering with Power-One, we will continue to grow the market by providing energy-efficient technologies with increased functionality for our customers."

"The DPT patents enable Maxim to incorporate serial bus communication and configuration capability to point-of-load power solutions, enabling a new level of flexibility and reliability to power subsystem designs," said Jim Templeton, Director of Business Management at Maxim.
