President Barack Obama meets Friday with a group of Democratic governors who are in town for the National Governors Association winter meeting this weekend.

At least a dozen state chief executives are expected to attend, including Maryland Gov. Martin O'Malley, chairman of the Democratic Governors Association.

The White House says the president, Vice President Joe Biden and the Democratic governors will "discuss the ways Washington and the states can work together to grow the economy and create jobs."

On Sunday, the president and first lady Michelle Obama will welcome the National Governors Association to the White House for the 2011 Governors' Dinner.
