LOS ANGELES, May 25, 2011 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- IGA (Independent Grocers Alliance) today announced that 131 IGA retail stores serving the western United States will be participating in a national cause marketing initiative to raise money for Wounded Warrior Project (WWP). During this national promotion — running from Memorial Day weekend (May 27) through Labor Day weekend (Sept. 5) — IGA will donate 10 cents from the sale of every specially marked case of IGA Brand Water to the Wounded Warrior Project, an organization whose mission is to honor and empower wounded servicemen and women.

IGA's WWP campaign provides a great way for individuals and communities to support those men and women who have put themselves in harms way to defend our country. In conjunction with this special WWP IGA Brand Water promotion, IGA retailers are planning store and community events for this summer that will recognize and honor these heroes. In addition to creating awareness about WWP, IGA hopes to raise over $100,000 for WWP as a result of the national campaign.

"We are pleased to partner with the Wounded Warrior Project and the communities our stores serve to raise much-needed funding to help wounded service members with everything from physical health and wellness, counseling, family aid, and job assistance — this is an important cause for our nation," said Terry Carr, Area Director of Western United States, IGA, Inc.
