Authorities arrested a 15-year-old boy after he fatally stabbed his 77-year-old great-grandmother with a sword and wounded his grandmother, sheriff's officials said.

Officers arrived at the home Monday afternoon and found the grandmother, who is in her 50s, barricaded inside a room and the great-grandmother lying lifeless in the front yard, Douglas County Sheriff Phil Miller said.

The teen was standing in the doorway with what they described as a full-sized sword and a pellet rifle, and he shot out the windows of a patrol car, Miller said.

Authorities used a stun gun to take the teen into custody after a standoff. The grandmother was taken to a hospital for treatment of a cut on the arm. Miller said the injury was non-life threatening.

"According to our information the argument started over a video game and over a computer. He was wanting to get on a computer and then things got out of hand," the sheriff said Tuesday.

Deputies recovered a 3-foot-long straight sword used in the attack, Miller said.

The teen was charged Tuesday with murder and will be tried as an adult, Miller said. He was being held in jail without bond.

Miller said deputies had been called to the home in the past on reports of the teen being violent.

"We've arrested him on two different occasions. Once in June where he had another sword, which is in evidence. This is not the same sword. He cut his grandmother on the foot with it that time," Miller said, .

Police arrested him again on July 29, Miller said.

After each arrest, the teen was sent to the hospital for a mental evaluation and then released, the sheriff said.

The boy turned 15 on Thursday.
