EveryBlock Neighbors Top 100,000 “Thanks”

EveryBlock, the leader in neighborhood news and talk, passed a significant milestone of online gratitude today. Users “thanked” each other for the 100,000th time since the site added the feature last March to encourage recognition of constructive posts.  The milestone shows the power of EveryBlock as an online community that gives users a way to share information and meaningfully connect with their neighbors.

“When we re-launched EveryBlock with a social component nearly a year ago, we first saw a steady increase in people using “thanks” to acknowledge their neighbors.  The adoption and growth has sharply accelerated lately, pushing us past the 100k mark with really encouraging momentum,” said Brian Addison, President, EveryBlock.

EveryBlock is committed to helping users be better neighbors by sharing information with other people about what’s happening in their neighborhood. EveryBlock neighbors have been thanked for posts about topics ranging from park clean-ups and community police alerts to new business announcements and recycling questions.

“EveryBlock gets even better the more people share with their neighbors, and ‘thanks’ are a great way for people to recognize neighbors who are making positive contributions to the site, and ultimately their community,” said Becca Martin, Director of Community Management.
