Latinos showed their generosity and commitment on #GivingTuesday through a successful social media campaign.

On Tuesday, Dec. 1st, HIPGive led a social media campaign called #LatinosGive in an effort to raise money for innovative projects by organizations in the Latino community.

As of 10:30 pm on Tuesday December 1st, the nonprofits participating on HIPGive had raised over $183,000 to support Latino communities across the continent. HIPGive originally offered $20,000 in matching funds, provided by Kaiser Permanente, and shortly after 12:00am PST, when #GivingTuesday started, the entire pool of $20,000 was depleted.

Andrea Perez, HIPGive Project and Marketing Coordinator, said, "We were thrilled with the overwhelming response and we decided to provide an additional $20,000 in matching funds to acknowledge the enormous generosity of the community."

The #GivingTuesday #LatinosGive initiatives were the biggest crowdfunding success since Hispanics in Philanthropy launched HIPGive in 2014. Perez said, "In total, over $223,000 was channeled to support our communities today. We are humbled!"
However, Perez emphasized that giving doesn't have to end today. "The campaigns participating on HIPGive.org will stay open through Dec. 31st hoping to raise more funds during the holiday season," said Perez.
