Pair denies grisly broad daylight murder of British soldier on busy London street

LONDON -- Two men accused of hacking a British solider to death in broad daylight on a busy London street pleaded not guilty Friday to his murder.

Michael Adebolajo, 28, and Michael Adebowale, 22, appeared at the London's Old Bailey court where they denied murdering military Drummer Lee Rigby in British capital's Woolwich area on May 22.

As well as denying the murder charges, the defendants each pleaded not guilty to charges of conspiracy to murder a police officer and attempted murder of a police officer, officials said.

Both Adenolajo and Adebowale were remanded in custody. They are due to appear next at the Old Bailey on October 21, with their trial set to begin on November 18.

Rigby died at the scene of the attack, which took place near an army barracks. A post-mortem examination gave the cause of death as "multiple incised wounds."
