A hand glider crash has killed an instructor and a 12-year-old boy near Las Vegas, Nevada, police told NBC News late Friday. The man was described as an experienced instructor, the Las Vegas Sun newspaper reported.
According to the newspaper, the glider was tethered to a tow vehicle when it crashed into the ground on a dry lake bed.
Nevada highway patrol told NBC News that they got a call about the accident shortly before 3 p.m. (5 p.m. ET). When troopers arrived the child was being attended to by other adults. Both were later pronounced dead.
Neither have been named by officials.
