A second Marine has died from injuries suffered in Sunday's military aircraft crash in Hawaii, military officials said Wednesday.
Military officials identified the Marine as 21-year-old Lance Corporal Matthew J. Determan, of Maricopa, Arizona.
"Lance Corporal Determan represents the best America has to offer," said Colonel Vance L. Cryer, commanding officer with the 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit. "Our country and our Corps are poorer for his loss, but his example will continue to inspire us."
Determan was a rifleman assigned to 3rd Battalion, 1st Marines. He was stationed at Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, in Southern California, before deploying with the 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit.

Twenty-two Marines were on board the MV-22B Osprey, an airplane-and-helicopter hybrid, when it crashed during a training exercise around 11:40 a.m. local time (5:40 p.m. ET) at Bellows Air Force Station on the island of Oahu. The cause of the accident was still under investigation.
Military officials have identified the other fatality as 24-year-old Lance Cpl. Joshua Barron of Spokane, Washington.
Two other Marines remained in the hospital in stable condition, official said on Wednesday.
