Bowe Bergdahl Released

Bowe Bergdahl Telling 'His Own Story' to Investigators

0:00

Army Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl, who was held captive by the Taliban in Afghanistan for five years, met with Army investigators all day Wednesday and will continue answering questions Thursday, his attorney, Eugene Fidell, told NBC News. Fidell said Bergdahl answered every question he was posed during the eight-hour interview at Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio, Texas, by Maj. Gen. Kenneth Dahl.

"I think it was important and useful for him to be able to tell his own story and not have it told for him by anyone else," said Fidell, who said Bergdahl did most of the talking but wouldn't disclose what his client told Dahl.

Bergdahl, 28, was swapped May 31 for five prisoners held at the U.S. detention facility at Guantanamo Bay. While many questions have swirled around Bergdahl since his return home, he has been back on regular duty pending the results of Dahl's investigation.
