The timing is too good to be a coincidence: The day after the Apple Watch in all its finery is announced, Motorola on Tuesday showed off a Moto Maker utility for its own smartwatch, the Moto 360. Here, just as with the Moto X smartphones, you can pick a combination of watch case, face and band to see how they look before ordering. There are three options for the case — dark metal, light metal and "champagne gold," the last of which will run you $30 more. Quite a bargain considering the gold option on Apple Watch costs an extra $9,000. Of course, one of them isn't real gold, but who's going to ask? (Probably everybody.)
There are the usual leather and metal link bands (an extra $50 for the latter), and of course you can change the watch face later if you want — but it's nice to be able to see how your favorite would look with the hardware of your choice.
The Moto 360 starts at $250 and is shipping now (for free at that), though low stock on some options may delay your smartwatch dreams for a week or two.
