When the Apple App Store launched in 2008, it contained about 500 apps. Now, on its fifth birthday, it shows over 900,000 of them. In celebration of the anniversary, some rather popular ones are available for free.
"Five landmark games and five groundbreaking apps" can be found in an App Store section dedicated to its fifth anniversary. You can grab 'em for free for a limited time:
- Badland
- Infinity Blade II
- Superbrothers: Sword and Sworcery EP
- Tiny Wings
- Where's My Water?
- Barefoot World Atlas
- Day One
- How To Cook Everything
- Over
- Traktor DJ
Some of the apps — such as How To Cook Everything, which is normally priced at $9.99 — are quite a gift, so be sure to snag 'em while this birthday celebration lasts.
