Facebook tests 'even easier' Timeline design, with posts crammed into single column

Hate Facebook's Timeline? I've got potentially good news for you: Facebook's testing out another Timeline design, to make navigating the site "even easier."

Inside Facebook's Brittany Darwell was among the first to notice that something odd was going on. Apparently some users are seeing all Timeline posts "in a single column on the left and any activity modules in a narrower column on the right."

Since one of the main objections to Timeline is that it makes people read posts across two columns, this could keep us from going cross-eyed while attempting to skim someone's posts. But Facebook isn't saying whether or not the new layout is a go yet.

"Facebook is testing a new design with a small percentage of people to make navigating Timeline even easier," a spokesperson for the social network tells NBC News when we asked about the changes. This is not an unusual reply, as it's common for Facebook to test out a variety of small tweaks on a limited audience before ditching an idea or rolling a change out more widely, so keep an eye out for the shift.
