Grammy winner Chris Brown's probation in Los Angeles for his 2009 attack on Rihanna was revoked on Monday, following a recent misdemeanor assault charge in Washington, D.C.
Brown, 25, was "released on his own recognizance" and will still need to complete rehab and community labor, Los Angeles Superior Court Judge James R. Brandlin has ordered.
It is the second time Brandlin has revoked Brown's probation this year. On July 15, Brown's probation was revoked over a misdemeanor hit-and-run in Los Angeles that occurred in May. Those charges were later dismissed.
The R&B star is scheduled to report to Brandlin's courtroom again on Feb. 10. He also will be allowed to attend a court hearing in Washington on Jan. 8 related to the October incident near the W Hotel. Brown and his bodyguard were initially charged with felony assault, but the case was reduced to a misdemeanor.
In November, Brown was ordered to spend 90 days in a treatment program after he flew into a rage at a treatment facility and shattered his mother's car window with a rock. At Monday's hearing, probation officials reported that the singer was doing better in the program in recent weeks and prosecutors did not request that he be sent to jail.
